Padua is situated half way between Vicenza and Venice. Following the banks of the rivers Bacchiglione and Brenta this itineary leads to these must-see towns winding through beautiful landscapes.

The itinerary that links the Colli Euganei to the Venice lagoon follows an ancient water course at one time used by lighters, the so-called “burci”, that carried loaded goods such as the trachyte of Colli Euganei, the salt from Chioggia and the sugar from Pontelongo.

A new cycling path will connect Padua with Treviso within the year 2012. The path follows the already existing cycling route of the river Muson dei Sassi and an old railway route, the Treviso-Ostiglia. You will go through different landscapes: those of the last journey of St. Anthony, those of the old railway, the rural landscapes of the paduan province and the fluvial ones of the River Sile Natural Park.

The Brenta is not only one of the most important rivers of the Alpine chain, it is also an excellent cycling connection between the cycling routes of the Trentino Alto Adige Region and those of the Veneto Region. The Province of Padua has planned a cycle path that will give the cycle tourists coming from Northern Europe the possibility to reach Padua following the banks of the river Brenta.
